T he history of Mexican talavera tiles began in the late 16th Century when potters from the Spanish city of Talavera de la Reina settled in Puebla, a two hour drive east of Mexico City. Today, talavera ceramics are found throughout the country, but the finest are concentrated in and around Puebla, where nearly all of our products are sourced. Compared to other Mexican tile imports our tiles possess a vibrance of color, a delicacy of detail, and visible textures that comes from hand painting. Each tile is its own work of art.
